Ordering Questions

1. What types of payment do you accept?

Major Credit Cards: Visa, MasterCard and American Express

2. When will my credit card be charged?

Once your credit card has been authorized, your charges will be processed immediately. Monthly membership fees are prepaid on the anniversary month and day of the original purchase date for service starting on the following month. Recurring charges will include monthly membership and any other authorized charges - and automatically charged to the credit card information entered.

3. How do I know that you have received my order?

Once your credit card has been authorized, your order will automatically process and you will see a screen that shows your order as having been successfully processed. You will also receive an email confirming your order.

4. What is the cancellation and refund policy?

If you cancel your membership after purchasing access to the site, your access will terminate at the end of your current month's billing period and your monthly billing will stop. All charges and fees are non-refundable.

5. Do I have to worry about renewing my monthly membership each month?

No, we have made this an automated process, so you don't have to worry about making a new payment each month.

6. How do I cancel my membership?

Log into your "My Account & Settings" page at and click "Membership Info"; then click "Cancel My Account".

7. How do I update my credit card information?

Simply log into your "My Account & Settings" page and click on "Billing Info".

8. Can I change my type of membership from monthly to annual?

Yes. You can upgrade your monthly membership to an annual membership during course 1 and 2. During this time, if you upgrade you only have to pay the difference in amount for the cost of an annual membership i.e. what you have paid to date will go towards the original annual membership price.

9. Can I give a subscription to TCU as a gift?

Yes - simply sign up and create a username and password for your recipient. Then pass them the login credentials. (Official TCU Gift Cards are currently in production and will be available in the coming future)


Product Questions

1. How many lessons are there and how long are they?

There are on average 18 lessons per course and lessons range from as short as 5 minutes to as long as 30 minutes depending on the subject matter.

2. How many times can I watch videos and are they downloadable?

You can watch and review the videos as many times as you like while you are a paying member. The videos can be streamed on-demand wherever you have an internet connection. The videos are not downloadable due to copy protection and piracy issues.

3. Is the content available on DVD format?

No, it is not available on DVD.

4. Is there other material that comes with the videos?

Recipes associated with each lesson, and course overviews are conveniently located in tabs below the video player in each lesson. You can also print out these materials if you wish to.

5. Are there shopping lists for each lesson?

Most lessons have a recipe associated with it that is used to teach the lesson. The ingredient list of the recipe can be used as a shopping list for each lesson so you can practice what is being taught and even follow along and cook with the instructor.

6. Can I skip lessons or do it in my own order?

As an annual user yes you can. A monthly user is required to do it in order to unlock each subsequent course.

7. Where can I find a complete curriculum?

If you click on each of the course panels you will see a detailed list of the lessons associated with that course. Many of the recipes you will learn in each course are listed there too.

8. Is this course an accredited program?

No - it is not officially accredited. It is an independent culinary program designed by professional chefs and taught by former contestants of the reality cooking show Top Chef.

9. Are there tests?

Yes - you will be tested at the end of each course to monitor your progress and track how well you are doing. Your scores will be given to you and recorded in reports.

10. Will I get a certificate at the end of the course?

Yes - you will get a personal "Certificate of Completion" representing that you have successfully completed the program and are "Top Chef Certified."

11. What if I don't have a computer in my kitchen?

You can still watch the lessons and take notes, print out he recipes and practice what you have learnt in your kitchen. A computer in the kitchen is great, but not mandatory.

12. How does a monthly subscription work?

As a monthly user you get access to Course 1. After a month, you get access to the next course and so on. You will continue to have access to your previous courses so you can review them as often as you like.

13. What if I finish my course early before the month is up?

You have the option to 'Fast-Forward' if you finish the course before the month is up. This will immediately unlock the next course and your monthly billing cycle will be adjusted accordingly.

14. How does an annual subscription work?

As an annual user, you have immediate access to the complete program. You can review the videos as often as you like and in whatever order you desire.

15. Will you be adding more content?

Yes. We will be continuing to develop and add more content as the program grows and evolves.

16. How do I update my...username? password?

Log into www.TopChefUniversity.com. Navigate to 'My Dashboard' and under the 'My Account' tab, click on My Profile. Enter in your username and password and click on 'Update.'

17. How do I view my membership details e.g. status of my account and how much I will be charged?

Navigate to 'My Dashboard', under the 'My Account' tab click on 'Purchase Summary.' You will either be a 'monthly' member (recurring monthly charge) or and 'annual' member (fixed charge, no recurring monthly cost).

18. How do I cancel my subscription?

Navigate to 'My Dashboard', under the 'My Account' tab click on 'Purchase Summary.' Click the link that syas "Click Here to Cancel" under your purchase summary information. Enter in the details as to why you are canceling then click 'Cancel My Account.'

19. How do I update/view my billing information?

Navigate to 'My Dashboard', under the 'My Account' tab click on 'Billing Info.' To update your billing information click on the 'Click Here to Update.' Check the 'Update Credit Card Information' box to update your credit card information.

20. How do I upgrade my subscription?

Navigate to 'My Dashboard,' under the 'Upgrade' tab, select 'Full Upgrade' (remember you can only upgrade to annual if you are in your first 2 months of membership). Aslo, if you do upgrade you only pay the difference in amount so what you have already paid goes towards the annual cost, thus you still get the discounted price of the annual subscription.

21. How do I unlock more courses?

As a 'monthly' user you have access to one course per month before another is automatically unlocked. If you want to move ahead faster you can 'fast forward' to unlock the next course. Navigate to 'My Dashboard,' under the 'Upgrade' tab, select 'Fast Forward.' This unlocks the next course and updates your monthly billing cycle so you get billed straight away. You are not charged extra, your cycle is simply changed.

22. How do I change my host?

Navigate to 'My Dashboard.' Under your 'My Progress' bar, click on 'Switch to Carla/Kevin' to switch your host.

23. How can I see the last lesson I viewed? or How can I tell where I'm up to?

On the 'My Dashboard page, under current training you will see the last lesson viewed and your next lesson. Next lesson shows what lesson you should take next if you take all the courses in order. You can simply click on the box to go straight to the lesson.

24. Do I receive a certificate of completion?

Upon 100% completion of all courses and tests, a link to a personalized certificate will appear in the current training section of 'My Dashboard.' You can print this certificate for your personal use.
